David

David and Goliath

The young shepherd who faced the giant Goliath with a sling, five stones, and unshakable faith in the Lord.

For forty days the Philistine giant Goliath taunted the army of Israel, and no one dared face him. Fear gripped the camp, and even King Saul stood paralyzed before the threat.

David, still a young shepherd, came to the field carrying provisions for his brothers. Hearing the giant mock the living God, he was stirred and offered to fight — not out of his own courage, but trusting that the Lord would deliver the enemy into his hands.

He refused Saul's heavy armor. He chose five smooth stones from the brook and, sling in hand, declared to Goliath: 'You come to me with a sword, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts.'

A single stone was enough. The giant fell, and Israel learned that victory comes not by force of arms, but by faith in the One to whom the battle belongs.
