David
David wrote many of the Psalms
About half of the 150 psalms are attributed to David, who turned joys, fears, and repentance into song.
David was not only a warrior and king — he was also a poet and worshiper.
Tradition attributes to him about half of the Bible's 150 psalms, written amid flight, victory, grief, and moments of deep intimacy with God.
In them we find the human heart in its full range: the despair of the hunted, the guilt of the sinner, the gratitude of the forgiven, and the joy of the worshiper.
The most beloved of all may be Psalm 23 — 'The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want' — the words of a shepherd who knew, by experience, the care of the greater Shepherd.
